In 2014, I had the incredible opportunity to audition for a Walt Disney film, a moment that felt like a dream come true. The exhilaration I felt when I was accepted was beyond words. It was clear from the start that they were impressed with my performance, and I was overjoyed when I received the call requesting that I relocate to Florida for several months to shoot the film.
However, along with that excitement came a harsh reality. Despite my passion and determination, I faced significant financial hurdles that prevented me from making the move. The costs of travel and lodging loomed large, casting a shadow over what could have been a life-changing experience. I was heartbroken, feeling as though a door had closed on my dreams.
For several years, I carried the disappointment with me, wondering what might have been. It was during this time that I began to understand the essence of resilience, particularly within the realm of nonprofit organizations. At The Chance Foundation we thrive on hope, acting as lifeline for those who find themselves in desperate situations, much like I did when my opportunity slipped away.
Through my journey of heartbreak and reflection, I realized the importance of never losing hope. The Chance Foundation embodies this spirit, nurturing individuals and communities, providing support, and reminding them of their potential. They inspire us to keep pushing forward, even in the face of disappointment, teaching us that every setback can lead to new beginnings.Even though I missed my opportunity in FL, I was able to play a role in diverse movies such as MARRY ME, CITY on a Hill, The Ville, The Grille, and more to come.
As I look back on my experience, I am grateful for the lessons I learned. Although I didn’t make it to Florida, I found a renewed sense of purpose. Inspired by the resilient efforts of The Chance Foundation, I understand that hope is a powerful force. It's a reminder that even in the face of adversity, we can rise again, chase our dreams, and make a difference for ourselves and others.
